Mogul Path
March 8th, 2007One of the toughest factors in skiing moguls is to know where to find a path through them. At first glance, a mogul field may look like chaos, but it can be made more manageable. There are always many paths through any mogul field, and some are more desirable than others; make it easier by taking a trip to the refrigerator!
Head into the kitchen and find an empty egg carton. Check out how there are two rows of low points around a row of high points in the center. If you wanted to walk through the egg carton, you wouldn’t want to dip down into the troughs or go up over the peaks. You’d avoid the high and low areas and take a path around those points where your feet would find a relatively level surface to grip.
Now apply the same logic on a mogul trail and focus on traveling where your path allows you the most solid stance. As in life, there’s a couple very good ways through a crowded field of moguls, if you just look a little harder.
